Top 5 match-ups in New York State Wrestling Tournament this weekend.

126: Adam Busiello vs Michael Gonyea
Michael Gonyea of Columbia has received a second seed this year at the New York State and will represent Section 2 this weekend. Last season he placed 5th at this tournament in a tough weight and looks to challenge 2x New York State Champ Adam Busiello. Busiello is only a Junior and eyes down his 3rd consecutive title. Gonyea will have his hands full against the Penn State commit, but it will surely be an interesting showdown.

120: Anthony Sciotto vs Devin Woodworth
Devin WoodWorth is a junior from Horseheads in Section 4. He is a two time Section 4 champion making this his 3rd appearance to the New York State tournament. He is powering through this regular season going into the state tournament with a 31-0 record. At the top waits Anthony Sciotto from Rocky Point sporting a 53-1 record with two state medals under his belt already. Sciotto only lost to Busiello by a short deficit earlier this year. This would be a good match-up and a good test for Woodworth.

170: Tyler Barnes vs Grant Cuomo
This is an extremely exciting for many reasons. Defending New York State champion looks to keep his spot on top this weekend against Grant Cuomo who has been hunting for his own title for quite some time now. Grant Cuomo is a princeton commit who is no stranger to the big stage as this will be his second New York State Finals appearance. Tyler Barnes, committed to NC State, will battle it out with with the stud from Brewster for the 170 pound state title.

113: Greg Diakomihalis vs Dylan Ryder
This is an amazing match up in the lighter weights between two guys who have been had their fair share of victory in New York. Greg, younger brother of Cornell super star Yianni, will look to add another notch under his belt against another former New York State Champ. In a clash of styles, this will be some of the best wrestling in the lighter weights, if not the whole tournament. Ryder and Diakomihalis will be by far one of the most anticipated matches of the weekend.

152: Jacori Teemer vs Matt Grippi
Last but not least, we have Teemer vs Grippi. Matt Grippi from Fox Lane is know phenom from his area. The two time New York State Runner-Up is certainly in search of his first title. He is committed to NC State this upcoming fall. His opponent is four time New York State Champ Jacori Teemer who is pound for pound one of the best wrestlers in the nation. Teemer is headed to Arizona State University in the fall. These two met previously at the Eastern States Classic where Teemer topped Grippi offensively for the win. These two are undoubtedly two of the most watched wrestlers in this state and without a doubt, this will be one to remember.
