Kropman Earns Two Medals; Hofstra's Heller Takes Bronze for Team USA at the World Maccabiah Games

Team USA racked up 19 wrestling medals at the 20th World Maccabiah Games in Israel on Sunday and Monday, with Penfield High School grad and current Binghamton student-athlete Parker Kropman earning two medals.

Kropman picked up silver in Freestyle competition in the city of Beersheva at at 65 kg/143 pounds, before grabbing bronze in Greco Roman the next day.

The multi-time state medalist from the Rochester area started as a true freshman for the Bearcats in 2016-17 at 149 pounds and placed at the EIWA tournament.

Another wrestler who competes collegiately in the Empire State, Sage Heller of Hofstra, also made the medal stand for Team USA, notching bronze in Freestyle at 86 kg/189 pounds. 

Heller also was in the lineup as a true freshman, compiling over 20 wins at 174 pounds for the Pride.

Mike Kosoy of NC State was a double gold medalist for the United States at 125 kg/275 pounds, while Zach Sherman (Blair Academy/North Carolina), Mitch Finesilver (Duke), Matt Finesilver (Duke), Donald McNeil (Rider) and Jack Mutchnik (American) also finished with gold during the competition.

The Maccabiah World Games bring over 10,000 Jewish athletes from 80 nations around the world together for competition in more than 40 sports.
