The Champs are Back! Can Minisink Valley be stopped? Canisteo Greenwood, Warrensburg & Port Jervis punch their tickets as well

Division 1

2. Wantagh-8 (25-0)
3. Burnt Hills (9-1)
4. Shenendehowa (4-0)
5. Massapequa-8 (11-0)

The Warriors rolled through the Section 9 Dual Meet Tournament outscoring their three opponents 187-12. Minisink valley are favorites nonetheless heading into the state duals. Are Wantagh and Massapequa on a collision course for a Section 8 title this week? Section 2 seeds have been released and Burnt Hills and Shen are scheduled to meet in the semi-finals!

6. Brockport-5 (7-1)
7. Spencerport-5 (12-1)
8. Indian River-3 (15-0)
9. Fairport-5 (14-2)
10. Fox Lane-1 (13-0)

Section 5 kicks off their dual meet tournament this week with two quarterfinal bouts. Spencerport takes on #11 Churchville Chili and Fairport takes on Webster Thomas. The semi-finals and finals are slated for Saturday at Victor HS. Indian River holds the top seed in the Section 3 duals and are likely to square off against the winner of JD/CBA and Fulton in the finale.

11. Churchville-Chili-5 (21-1)
12. Horseheads-4 (10-2)
13. Brentwood-11 (12-0)
14. Miller Place-11 (17-0)
15. Pittsford-5 (8-1)

Pittsford holds the top seed in the S5 duals despite a loss to Fairport. The Panthers will wrestle the winner of Spencerport and Churchville-Chili. Horseheads is the favorites to win another Section 4 crown however do not count out Chenango Forks. Forks upset the Blue Raiders back in 2019 to claim their first S4 title. Is Brentwood back to its powerful supremacy from the 80's? As deep as Section 11 is, I feel that Brentwood and Miller Place are a step above the rest and "should" meet in the S11 finals.

16. Lancaster-6 (10-1)
17. Niagara Falls-6 (8-1)
18. Manhasset-8 (11-1)
19. Connetquot-11 (12-0)
20. Starpoint-6 (13-4)

Welcome to the top 25 Manhasset Indians. Huge wins over Cold Spring Harbor and Hewlett catapulted them to #18. Their lone loss is the #13 Brentwood, 31-28.Connetquot moves up 2 more spots into the top 20. Can the Thunderbirds keep the momentum going and possibly take down powerhouses Brentwood and Miller Place?

21. MacArthur-8 (10-0)
22. Long Beach-8 (9-2)
23. Arlington-1 (10-1)
24. Monroe Woodbury-9 (9-2)
25. Hauppauge-11 (6-0

MacArthur defeated Long Beach 32-26 in yet again another epic battle between two historically successful programs. The Generals and Marines will join the likes of Manhasset and Hewlett as they look to dethrone S8 juggernauts Wantagh (#2) and Massapequa (#8). Monroe Woodbury cracks the top 25 with their runner-up finish to #1 Minisink Valley at the Section 9 duals. Coach Gartiser's squad bested the 19-4 Middletown Middies in the semi-finals.

Honorable Mention (Alphabetically)

Attica-Batavia-5 (14-2)
Chenango Forks-4 (4-0)
Fulton-3 (10-2)
Hewlett-8 (12-3)
Islip-11 (20-4)
JD/CBA-3 (11-2)
Middletown-9 (19-4)
Sayville-11 (13-6)

Division 2

1. Tioga-4 (10-0)
2. Canisteo Greenwood-5 (26-1)
3. Newfane-6 (16-1)
4. Saranac-7 (9-0)
5. General Brown-3 (4-3)

Canisteo Greenwood punched their ticket to the state duals this past week upending the fast rising HFL cougars, 39-24. The Redskins seem to be the top contenders in challenging #1 Tioga for the D2 state crown. Saranac jumps to #4 followed by General Brown at 5. The Lions has "three" losses due to an ineligible wrestler. Due to the technicality, GB finds themselves as the #4 seed at the Section 3 Duals and most likely a date with Top Seed and defending champions Central Valley Academy.

6. Warrensburg-Bolton-2 (21-2)
7. Honeoye Falls-Lima-5 (3-3)
8. Central Valley Academy-3 (13-2)
9. Bolivar Richburg-5 (24-3)
10. Gouverneur-10 (7-3)

The Burghers from Warrensburg will be making another return trip to the SRC Arena in Syracuse. On the brink of the top 5, Coach Trepasso has his team rolling to a 21-2 record. CVA is looking to join Warrensburg as repeat participants. Their toughest test may be General Brown in the semi-finals. Gouverneur is a near lock to be Section 10's rep. The Wildcats are led by the 1-2 punch of Vandavian Way and Carter Baer.

11. Pioneer-6 (8-2)
12. Pleasantville-1 (11-1)
13. Cold Spring Harbor-8 (10-4)
14. Shoreham Wading River-11 (9-4)
15. Edgemont-1 (8-2)

Tough break for Coach Bernaducci's Pleasantville Panthers. Due to their successful football campaign, many wrestlers weren't eligible for the Section 1 Duals thus leaving them a bit shorthanded. Fortunately for Edgemont, they took advantage of the opportunity and claimed their first title back in December defeating defending champs, Nanuet. Pleasantville defeated Edgemont 44-27 last week. This one will make you scratch you head....

16. Falconer-6 (12-3)
17. Camden-3 (7-2)
18. John Glenn-11 (8-4)
19. Chautauqua Lake-6 (11-3)
20. Walton-4 (3-0)

Walton make their 2022 state ranking appearance, coming in at #20. At only 3-0, their defeated a tough Windsor team and could be in contention to meet up with #1 Tioga in the Section 4 finals. In Suffolk, John Glenn lost a 7 point match to Shoreham Wading River, who only beat Port Jefferson by 2. Glenn took out Port by 20. Another head scratcher but one thing is for certain....with Mt Sinai being Division 1, Suffolk County will have a new dual meet champion this year.

21. Port Jefferson-11 (12-2)
22. Windsor-4 (5-2)
23. Adirondack-3 (4-1)
24. Coxsackie-Athens-2 (9-1)
25. Tamarac-2 (10-0)

Coach Galligan has his Wildcats back in the state rankings. Not sure if this team compares to some of those mid-2000 squads however. They are the #3 seed at the Section 3 duals and are pitted against #17 Camden.

Honorable Mention (Alphabetically)

Canastota-3 (10-3)
Greene-Oxford-4 (5-4)
Holland Patent-3 (8-2)
Hudson Falls-2 (11-3)
Iroquois-6 (11-10)
Nanuet-1 (11-5)
