From unranked to #12 in two weeks, Fairport is on the rise; Red Raiders battle D2 #2 Canisteo-Greenwood this week in a battle of Goliaths

Division 1

1. Minisink Valley-9 (11-0)
2. Wantagh-8 (2-0)
3. Burnt Hills-2 (2-0)
4. Shenendehowa-2 (2-0)
5. Spencerport-5 (7-0)

The Warriors won their second DMT of the season, without 4 of their studs in their lineup. Their depth keeps them at the top of the polls and the favorites moving forward. Wantagh heads to the David Bloom Duals this weekend and are on a collision course with #8 Hewlett. Perhaps the most intriguing match this upcoming weekend will take place at the Lee Van Slyke Duals, where #3 Burnt Hills will take on #4 Shenendehowa in what many believe is a prelude to the Section 2 Division 1 finals. Let's not forget, D2 #1 Tioga will be in attendance as well. Section 5's Spencerport wrapped up the crown at the Warrior duals in Cheektowaga.

6. Massapequa-8 (5-0)
7. Indian River-3 (7-0)
8. Hewlett-8 (1-0)
9. Long Beach-8 (0-0)
10. Niagara Falls-6 (5-0)

Massapequa won the Northport duals, convincingly. Don't sleep on the Chiefs, Coach Serrano's boys always seem to rise to the occasion. The Warriors from the North Country may have matched Massapequa's statement this past weekend by winning the Red Ram Duals. More importantly, they upended the defending NYS Dual Meet Runner-Up Fulton, 46-29. Is there a shift of power in Section 3? With a win over Wantagh at the Bloom Duals and Hewlett can really make some noise in Nassau County. Speaking of Nassau County, the Long Beach Marines are no stranger to intense dual meets. They have yet to wrestle a dual this season, however. Out West, Niagara Falls seem to be the favorites to represent Section 6 at the state duals. They hold a win over #13 Starpoint.

11. Fox Lane-1 (6-0)
12. Fairport-5 (6-0)
13. Starpoint-6 (8-3)
14. Churchville-Chili-5 (14-1)
15. Horseheads-4 (4-2)

Fox Lane has reigned over Section 1 for as long as I can remember and they have no signs of slowing down. The next round of the Section 1 Duals are this week and then the Carlucci Duals this weekend featuring Division 2 #6 Pleasantville & #8 Edgemont as well as Section 9's Monroe Woodbury. Fairport is quietly moving up the ladder. Their #12 ranking is just as they defeated previous #13 Churchville Chili, 37-22. Also, with a win over #17 Pittsford, the Red Raiders may be Spencerport's biggest contender in Section 5 this season. Starpoint remains in the top 15, with 3 losses, one to #10 Niagara Falls by 5 and to D2 #7 Newfane, twice. Churchville Chili has the most wins of any team in the state at 14. They were on the verge of their second dual meet title in as many weeks before Fairport halted them. The Blue Raiders are the highest Section 4 team ranked in division 1. They wrestle Johnson City and Chenango Forks this week.

16. Brentwood-11 (1-0)
17. Pittsford-5 (6-1)
18. Corning-4 (1-0)
19. Attica-Batavia-5 (8-0)
20. Islip-11 (10-1)

Suffolk County has two teams in the top 20, Brentwood and Islip. Brentwood has extreme depth and are considered contenders in Section 11. The Buccanners have ten wins thus far compared to one loss (Massapequa, 42-25). A pair of Section 5 squads are at #17 and #19. Both Pittsford and Attica Batavia have won tournament titles this season. Pittsford battles Hilton this week while A-B host D2 #14 Honeoye Falls-Lima. Corning is quietly sitting at 1-0, a win over Elmira 41-30. First-year coach Brian Guilfoyle leads the Hawks against Union Endicott this week.

21. Shaker-2 (2-0)
22. Newburgh-9 (1-0)
23. Lancaster-6 (5-1)
24. Miller Place-11 (2-0)
25. Rocky Point-11 (0-0)

Shaker picked up their second win this season, a 36-33 triumph over Averill Park. Columbia is next on the docket for the Bison. Newburgh aims for win #2 this week against Kingston. Lancaster has five wins, with their closest win was by 19 points. Their loss is to #17 Pittsford. Suffolk County adds even more depth in the top 25 with Miller Place and Rocky Point. Ranking rights are on the line this Wednesday as the Panthers (MP) take on the Eagles (RP).

Arlington-1 (6-0)
Ballston Spa-2 (5-1)
Commack-11 (3-1)
Longwood-11 (4-0)
MacArthur-8 (1-0)
Patchogue-Medford-11 (8-0)

Division 2

2. Canisteo Greenwood-5 (7-0)
3. Bolivar Richburg-5 (11-1)
4. Gouverneur-10 (4-3)
5. Peru (0-0)

Tioga has yet to wrestle a dual. That'll change this weekend at the Lee Van Slyke Duals where #3 Burnt Hills and #4 Shenendehowa will challenge the Tigers for the team title. Canisteo-Greenwood holds a seven-point win over #3 Bolivar Richburg. Can the Wolverines get revenge at the Section 5 duals? The undefeated Redskins travel to Fairport Wednesday to battle the undefeated D1 #12 ranked Red Raiders. Gouverneur is the heavy favorite to win Section 10 yet again this season. At 4-3, the Wildcats have lost three matches against three ranked opponents including #2 Canisteo-Greenwood and #3 Bolivar Richburg. Peru host #9 Saranac on Wednesday with the winner having a strangle hold on the Section 7 DMT title.

6. Pleasantville-1 (5-0)
7. Newfane-6 (9-1)
8. Edgemont-1 (6-1)
9. Saranac-7 (1-0)
10. General Brown-3 (2-3)

Pleasantville and Edgemont will battle it out for a Section 1 title and a trip to the state duals. They could also meet up this weekend at the Carlucci Duals. They are also set to meet in Mid-January as well. Newfane keeps climbing and is Section 6's highest ranked team. The Panther lightweights have been on fire lately! As stated before, Saranac travels to #5 Peru. Section 3's highest ranked squad is General Brown. The Lions have 3 losses, all due an ineligible wrestler. Regardless, GB is still one of the top contenders in Central New York.

11. BGAH-4 (0-0)
12. Warrensburg-Bolton-2 (8-2)
13. Windsor-4 (2-0)
14. Honeoye Falls-Lima-5 (0-1)
15. Shoreham Wading River-11 (1-0)

BGAH has yet to wrestle a dual meet this season. Warrensburg holds steady at 8-2 after crushing the field at the Duanesburg Duals. They scored at least 58 points in each of their 4 wins. Windsor looks to double their wins this week when they battle Owego and Chenango Forks. The Cougars from HFL lost a close one to D1 #5 Spencerport and now will take on undefeated Attica-Batavia this week. The Wildcats from SWR won the SGT Justin Rogers Memorial this past weekend at Tioga. They wrestle undefeated #24 Port Jefferson this Friday in a battle of Section 11 Division 2 favorites.

16. Central Valley Academy-3 (6-0)
17. Pioneer-6 (4-2)
18. Cobleskill-Richmondville-2 (1-0)
19. Hornell-5 (8-3)
20. Adirondack-3 (1-0)

CVA, the defending Section 3 D2 champs, are slowly creeping up the charts at 6-0, with their closest match being a 29 point win over Holland Patent. The Thunder will be battle tested this weekend at the Van Slyke duals. Pioneer sits a 4-2 with a 6 point loss to #7 Newfane. The Battle in the Valley this weekend will consist of two of Section 2 bests in host Cobleskill Richmondville and #12 Warrensburg-Bolton. Hornell has 8 wins compared to 3 losses in a deep section known for its division 2 prowess. Adirondack quietly sneaks in at #20. Their win over Canastota (#23) can't go unnoticed.

21. Camden-3 (4-1)
22. Palmyra Macedon-5 (4-3)
23. Canastota-3 (4-2)
24. Port Jefferson-11 (6-0)
25. Cold Spring Harbor-8 (0-0)

Section 3's depth is shining through yet again. Camden is 4-1, with their only loss to #10 General Brown at the GB Duals. Pal-Mac sits at 4-3 with a loss to #19 Hornell. They look to get wins 5 & 6 this week versus Midlakes and Wayne. Canastota has four wins over four Section 4 schools but looks for win #1 against a Section 3 school (Cooperstown) tonight. Port Jefferson makes their initial appearance in the top 25. At 6-0, PJ looks for win #7 against #15 Shoreham Wading  River this week.
