Buffalo ---->Ann Arbor, The Wolverines land NY Stud

Within the confines of New York State and the Buffalo Region to be exact, one name has been constantly making headlines since he was in 7th grade. Now a Sophomore, Williamsville North's Cameron Catrabone is already looking towards the future. That future now includes a verbal commitment to the University of Michigan.

"Michigan has been my favorite college since I was a baby. My dad was a wrestler there as well and I want to continue the Catrabone legacy."

Just a mere 48 hours since placing third at the prestigious Super 32 Challenge, Catrabone felt now was the perfect time to express his love for the sport and the University of Michigan.

"After this past weekend, I finally proved that I belong with the best high school wrestlers in the country and know that I am not slowing down now."

Before dawning the Maize and Blue, Cam still has a full 3 years left competing for the Spartans of Will North. Currently, CC is ranked #2 on NYWN's Class of 2024 Big Board. His resume speaks for itself:

3x NYS Qualifier (3-6-Q)
3x Section 6 Champion
2021 NHSCA Freshman National Champion
2021 Super 32 Bronze
2021 Grappler Fall Classic Bronze

Cam's commitment to being on the mat is unheralded. Just this summer alone, the future Wolverine not only placed at arguably two of the toughest off season tournaments (GFC & S32), he also performed well at Fargo, going 5-2 under the Dome lights.. He had a successful stint at the Ultimate Club Duals & Waterway Duals followed by a dominating performance in the overflo bracket at the Journeymen Fall Classic.

His training regiment is top notch and he continues to learn from some of the best in the game including former NC State wrestler and 3x NYS Champion Kellen Devlin as well as former NYS Champion Kyle McGregor.

Cam has really turned the corner this off-season. He has defeated numerous nationally ranked foes which has landed him in the national rankings. The dividends are paying off and I, for one, am excited to see his continued progression over the course of the next three seasons.

Like Father, Like Son

3x NCAA All-American Jeff Catrabone

Cameron's Father, Jeff, is no stranger to the Maize and Blue. In fact, he proved quite successful during his Ann Arbor days. Jeff finished with 160 career wins, was a 3x B1G Finalist and a 2 year captain.

"My father was a 3x All-American for the University of Michigan from 1996-1998. He also held the record for most pins in school history."

Cameron looks to not only follow a similar path to his father but to surpass his accomplishments along the way. His admirations are respectable and admirable. Before he hangs up that Green and Gray Will North singlet, there are a few vast accomplishments that Cameron would like to conquer.

"Before I graduate high school, my goal is to make a World Team and wrestle at Who's #1."
