Micah performed well in his NCAA debut. He win against Terukina was pretty dominant. His near fall at the end of the second period put things out of reach for the Bearcat Freshman. The onslaught continue in period 3 as Roes cruised to a 10-4 victory. 

He battle tough in the opening round. The 18-7 score indicate the match itself. Taking it to the #3 seed showed fortitude and guts and I feel carried over into his backside match vs Terukina. 

We fully expect Micah to make three more return visits to the NCAA Championships. The young Freshman capped off a great season for the Bearcats.

Carter ran into a buzzsaw in RBY in round 1. The Nittany Lion was just too much from the opening whistle. Kudos for the backside win over Northern Colorado's Mosha Schwartz, 8-6. The higher seeded Schwartz, led by 5x NYS Champ Troy Nickerson, couldn't hold off Carter as he secured the winning takedown with a mere two seconds remaining for the win. Carter now wrestles Malyke Hines of Lehigh Friday morning.

#13 Zachary Redding - Iowa St/Eastport South Manor-11

Lost to #29 Paul Bianchi (LR) 9-4

Redding was involved in a bit of controversy in round 1 against Sullivan. Unfortunately, the West Virginia lightweight prevailed sending Zach to the backside. Redding didn't look himself while battling Little Rock's Paul Bianchi. Regardless, the Iowa St. Freshman capped off a phenomenal start for the Cyclones and we expect to see Zach have multiple appearances at the NCAA Championships.

Gaxiola was one of three Pride wrestlers to advance to day 2. A late takedown with 20 seconds remaining propelled him to a win over Casey Cobb of Navy, 3-2. Gaxiola looks to keep the ball rolling Friday morning against #20 Josh Heil of Campbell.

It was nice to see two NYers battle each other on the grand stage. Hofstra's Ricky Stamm (Levittown Divison-8) and Drexel's Evan Barczak (Monroe Woodbury-9) went into sudden victory. The two would alternate escapes and takedowns notting the score at 3 a piece. Stamm would ultimately secure the winning takedown to advance into the next round.
