He's still #1 in the country.

Long Beach's Jacori Teemer defended his spot in the national polls at 138 pounds on Sunday in Pennsylvania at FloWrestling's Who's #1 event, defeating Mitch Moore of Ohio, 4-2.

The bout was scoreless after the opening period. Teemer began the second in the bottom position. With about 40 seconds left in the middle stanza, Teemer hit a Peterson for a reversal and two back points for a 4-0 advantage.

A pair of Moore escapes, one in the second and one in the third, made the final score, 4-2.

Teemer captured a bronze medal at the Cadet World Championships earlier this fall. The Arizona State recruit looks to make history as the second-ever five-time state champion in New York as a senior. (Troy Nickerson was the first).

PREVIEW - FROM AUGUST

Jacori Teemer of Long Beach is currently ranked #1 in the nation at 138 pounds. He'll battle to keep that spot on October 8 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania at FloWrestling's Who's #1 event.

Teemer will take on Virginia Tech recruit Mitch Moore, a three-time Ohio state champion.

Before that match, the Arizona State commit will represent Team USA at the Cadet World Championships in early September at 63 kg.

Teemer, a four-time NYS champion, was recently named New York's top senior in this article.
