For the second consecutive year, Hilton's Yianni Diakomihalis captured a Cadet World championship.

The Cornell-bound star left no doubt in the 63 kg gold medal match against Stefan Tonu of Moldova.  He took an early lead on a shot clock point and then added a pair of takedowns and a turn for a 7-0 lead after the first period.

In the second, the four-time New York State champion controlled the action, picking up a push out point on the way to an 8-0 victory.

After taking gold at 58 kg in 2015, Diakomihalis dominated his way through the bottom half of the 63 kg bracket on Sunday in Tbilisi, Georgia to earn the title bout appearance.

Diakomihalis began with three consecutive technical falls, over Tobias Portmann of Switzerland (15-3), Daniel Markarashvili of Georgia (10-0) and Ulan Tolegen of Kazakhstan (10-0).

That led to a semifinals clash with Japan's Jintaro Motoyama  in a rematch of last year's Cadet World final.  Once again, Diakomihalis prevailed, this time with a 9-3 decision.

For Team USA, Gable Steveson is also competing for his second straight gold (at 100 kg), while Travis Wittlake will wrestle for bronze at 76 kg.
